Most people probably know the Ray Charles version of this tune. For a special
event my Fusion band needed a few Hoagy Carmichael tunes. Well, gotta stick
with the style and this came out. Originally I played this on guitar but
it was easily adapted for Stick and sounds much funkier. It’s on Kwyjibo’s
premier recording The Rise of Kwyjibo.
Points of interest are the various endings of the A-section (in the arrangement
the 1st and 2nd endings of the A-section and the ending of the C-section).
Also the melody on the B-section is interesting in how both hands create pretty
thick harmonic melody.
Obviously the third staff on top which is printed a lot smaller is the sax
line provided for context.
