Paintings & Tracks
1. Road to Schleissheim (5:04) – Monika Herzig

Imagine a journey on a very bumpy road, the wheels turn unevenly, it’s noisy and dusty, the trees are towering over the road. Sometimes you pass a car and the melody changes pitches, echoes, delays, but the rhythm of the wheels keeps going.
2. Morning by the Stream (6:49) – Peter Kienle

Spend a morning by the stream, listen to where the water has been and imagine where it is going. Also look at the turtle and the fish.
3. The Boatman (2:24) – Monika Herzig

Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, live is but a dream. The stream pushes against the rudder, there is a lot of resistance to each stroke.
4. Late Afternoon, Dachau Moor (6:08) – André Nendza

This composition explores the movement of water. Sometimes flowing slowly and peacefully, sometimes wildly and destructively. The flow is regular and uneven at the same time.
Bright and clear meets dark moments.
Ultimately: life!
5. Meridian Street Thawing Weather (3:57) – Monika Herzig

Red umbrella, the shoes get wet, but Spring is just around the corner. The trees are still bare, but life is ready to blossom, a new dawn, a new cycle of life.
6. Mysterious (4:47) – Peter Lehel

Mysterious is the travel through life. Like water in a river. Where do we go? What will be around the corner, behind the far away mountains? See the beauty within the colors. Be a surprise for yourself like a mysterious traveler.
7. The Brook in the Woods (6:49) – Jamie Baum

There’s something a little spooky or mysterious about this painting. While it’s not entirely visible, I imagine there is a foggy mist rising from the brook which is surrounded by the changing colors of the fall leaves. This inspired me to use an ambiguous chord progression. The running brook gave me the idea of using wide leaps for the repeating bass ostinato, giving a feeling of forward motion, like the water in the brook that continues to rush somewhere though the destination is unknown.
8. The Hill Country (5:22) – Monika Herzig

This 1913 depiction of Brown County is one of T.C. Steele’s most exhibited and beloved pieces. He kept it in his possession throughout his life. Imagine a trip through the Rolling Hills of Southern Indiana.
9. House of the Singing Winds (11:23) – Monika Herzig

When night falls, in the Winter of 1922, the symphony of sounds rises in the darkness. The wind blows through cracks in the woods, animals hustle through the snow looking for food and shelter, birds hunt above, clusters and melody snippets move in and out, sometimes there is a common groove, and the wind keeps singing around the house.
10. Last Hour of the Day (8:22) – Monika Herzig

Our daily work is done – together with our loved ones we sit down and reflect on the day. The Blues is knocking on the door, come on in and have a seat.
11. November Morning (5:58) – Peter Lehel

This November Morning isn`t grey and depressive as we could expect. It`s surprisingly colorful but in a calm, kind of unreal mood, sharing moments of unexpected views and thoughts.
